Over the last few years, we have reached out to many governmental and non-governmental funders.  Inevitably these organisations have established and well-practiced approaches to their due diligence before funds are released, hence they are cautious before any significant change in their processes are implemented.  The strategy we are adopting is to request these organizations to allow GFGP related expenses to be an allowable cost on their awards. The funders who have currently agreed to allow GFGP to be an allowable expense are USAID, Wellcome, NIHR and the AAS.

Most of these organizations have already been approached and sensitized on Certification to GFGP. Typically, grantee organisations only undertake a due diligence if requested by a grantor because of they don't they will not get their awards. Introduction of GFGP has changed this landscape as due diligence has been replaced by a certification to the standard.  This is a shift in the paradigm as to how the grantor / grantee funding ecosystem is going to work in the future. Inevitably it's going to take some time before grantee organizations realise that in order to be eligible to be funded, they will need to become certified to GFGP. The organisations which will drive this change are the funders. Due to the conservative nature of funding organizations it will take some time before certification to GFGP becomes universally adopted.
